Therapy for Kids & Teens

Kids and teens today are navigating a lot. School pressure, social stress, constant comparison, and big internal changes. For neurodivergent kids and teens (including ADHD, autism, learning differences, and sensory sensitivity), the world can feel even louder, faster, and more demanding than it appears from the outside.

When a young person is struggling, it may show up as anxiety, irritability, shutdowns, tears, defiance, perfectionism, stomachaches, school avoidance, or a noticeable shift in mood and confidence.

I offer therapy for children and teens that is warm, grounded, and developmentally attuned. My goal is to help young people build emotional skills, self-understanding, and nervous system regulation, while supporting greater calm, confidence, and connection at home and in daily life.

What I Help With

I support children and teens navigating:

  • Anxiety, worry, and overwhelm

  • Big emotions, irritability, or frequent meltdowns

  • Depression, low motivation, or withdrawal

  • School stress, avoidance, perfectionism, or burnout

  • Low self-esteem and social stress

  • Friendship challenges and peer dynamics

  • Family transitions (divorce, moves, blended families)

  • Grief and loss

  • Neurodivergence, learning differences, and sensory sensitivity

  • Trauma and stressful life experiences

My Approach

I focus on helping kids and teens feel safe, supported, and understood and I also believe in giving them tools they can actually use.

My work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with mindfulness and somatic approaches. CBT helps young people recognize patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and learn practical strategies for managing anxiety, mood, confidence, and stress. Mindfulness and somatic tools support nervous system awareness, grounding, and regulation.

Neurodivergent-Affirming Support

I offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy that honors each child’s unique brain and nervous system. Depending on your child’s needs, sessions may include support with:

  • Emotional regulation and nervous system tools

  • Sensory awareness and coping strategies

  • Executive functioning skills (planning, organization, follow-through)

  • School stress, burnout, and self-esteem

  • Social dynamics, friendship challenges, and communication

My goal is to help kids and teens understand themselves, build skills, and feel more confident being who they are.

Expressive Arts

Many young people have strong inner worlds but may struggle to explain what they feel, especially when emotions are intense or confusing. Expressive Arts offer additional ways to communicate, process, and heal.

I incorporate expressive approaches such as:

  • Art making (drawing, painting, collage)

  • Music and rhythm-based exploration

  • Voicework, singing, and songwriting

  • Sand tray therapy and symbolic play

  • Journaling and creative writing

  • Mindfulness-based and body-based tools for calming and grounding

Some kids love creative approaches immediately. Others prefer a more traditional talk-therapy style. Together we find what supports your child best.

What Parents Can Expect

Parents and caregivers are important partners in the therapeutic process. Depending on your child’s age and needs, therapy may include periodic parent sessions to provide support, insight, and practical tools for home.

I often help families:

  • understand what’s underneath behaviors

  • strengthen emotional language and regulation skills

  • improve connection and communication

  • create more calm and confidence at home

Confidentiality matters, especially for teens. I’ll work with you to create a structure that honors trust while still keeping parents appropriately supported and informed.

Getting Started

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. This gives you a chance to share what’s going on, ask questions, and get a feel for whether I’m the right fit for your child or teen.
